December 9 - 15 , 2014
Episcopal House of Prayer, Collegeville, MN
The Ground Luminosity Retreat
During the octave of December 10-17, an extraordinary collection of mystical luminaries left this earth, transitioning to the next realm. The list includes Thomas Merton (Dec 10), J.G. Bennett and Bede Griffiths (Dec 13), and Rumi on December 17th. Additionally, the date of the celebrated feast in the film Babette’s Feast is December 15. All told, this seems to constitute a cosmic “thin place” at the heart of Advent. In this immersion retreat, we will contemplate the light in the darkness as we prepare for the primary feast of the incarnation, the indwelling of God in our brother Jesus, and the ongoing presence of Emmanuel, God with Us. Note: this retreat ends with a feast on the evening of Sunday, December 14 (though we will have prayer Monday morning). Monday the 15th is primarily a travel day.
This retreat is FULL. Please e-mail Susan at houseprayer@csbsju.edu to be put on the waiting list, as spaces may open up as the date gets closer.
