About The Event
September 21-27: Benedictine Experience on Eagle Island, Maine
Contemplative prayer and psalmody, mindful work, wisdom teaching.
Eagle Island is a classic lighthouse keeper's island in East Penobscot Bay, Maine, two miles off the Deer Isle shore. Transportation is by a passenger-only mailboat. Accommodations and teaching will take place in a gracious, turn-of-the-century farmhouse, hosted by Bob and Helene Quinn, seventh generation Eagle Islanders. While indoor plumbing and simple solar and generator-driven electricity are available, the quiet simplicity and hospitality of the setting are themselves an adventure in Benedictine mindfulness.
