About

This retreat was recorded live March 17–22, 2017 at Cowichan Lake, BC, Canada. This purchase includes an MP3 audio download with a total running time of approximately 13 hours and 17 minutes. In this extensive Wisdom School, Matthew Wright explores the streams of early Christianity and their divergent understandings of salvation. Within the Roman Empire, mainline Christianity emphasized doctrine, right belief, and escape from this world into indistinguishable Oneness. By contrast, other Christian communities followed Jesus’ wisdom path of healing the divided soul, revealing divine unity through the diverse expressions of human life. Guiding participants into this heart-centered wisdom tradition, Matthew weaves together insights from the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, and Teilhard de Chardin. He highlights practices of attention, non-identified presence, and embodiment, showing how the heart serves as an organ of spiritual perception. The retreat traces how the prayer of the heart anchors this lineage and how Teilhard’s evolutionary vision situates it within a cosmic trajectory of growing complexity and unitive consciousness. Key themes include the collective salvific force of humanity, heartfulness, unitive perception, and the call to incarnate our unique expression of the divine. Through this teaching, we are invited to participate in creating heaven on earth by taking up our own role within the tapestry of divine love. As this is a LIVE recording you may notice some audio variability and background noise. Matthew Wright is an Episcopal priest, writer, and retreat leader. He serves as priest-in-charge at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Woodstock, New York, and is known for his work in the Christian Wisdom tradition and interspiritual dialogue. His teaching integrates Christian contemplative practice with insights from Sufism, Buddhism, and evolutionary spirituality.
