Holy Saturday Event in Langley, B.C:
Accompanying Jesus and Mary Magdalene
Location: The Centre for Spiritual Renewal at St. Andrew’s Church, Langley B.C.
Holy Saturday marks Jesus’ journeys into the heart of the earth in which he not only encounters the most constricted, cut off and hurt states of human consciousness in the collective false self but allows love to reach them and weave them into the whole. Meanwhile Mary Magdalene, the Tower, keeps vigil with a heart open in love as Jesus enters this pivotal point in the passion events, the outcome of which is still unknown to her. We are invited to enter this day from a wisdom point of view opening ourselves to the possibility of embodying the postures of Jesus and Mary Magdalene in the context of our very own lives.
In this recording, Cynthia Bourgeault restores Mary Magdalene as a central figure in the Paschal mystery. She models that the transformed human heart bridging the finite and the infinite as eros is surmounted and taken to the place where “love is stronger than death.” This is a spiritual path founded on the redeeming love of Jesus and passed on to the disciples by Mary Magdalene. Through Mary Magdalene’s witnessing and “substituted love,” we come to understand how the human heart is the gateway to the transformational mystery.
This set of talks deserves serious consideration by all Christians interested not only in their own spiritual journey, but also in the future of Christianity as the incarnational faith embodying the way of kenotic love – the way to the cosmic Christ spirit.
