2016 began with 40 contemplatives gathering at Te Moata Retreat Centre for a five-day Wisdom School with Cynthia Bourgeault. Throughout the year, Pip and Bev have led two Wisdom School weekends (see Wisdom School #1 and Wisdom School #2) based on the model Cynthia provided and her book The Wisdom Way of Knowing.

This coming January we will be back at Te Moata, this time led by Pip and Bev, to dig much deeper into the material offered on the two weekend events. During these five days we will be seeking to ground and stabilise “the wisdom way of knowing” – that is, knowing from our three centres of body, heart, and mind. The focus will be on practice with a daily rhythm of qi gong, contemplative prayer/meditation, chanting, lectio divina, “study”, reflection, conscious practical work, contemplative dialogue, and rest. We will engage more deeply with Cynthia’s teaching and practices for three-centred knowing, and will also refer to other wisdom teachers, past and present. This is always with the intention, as Cynthia says, of setting “the precondition for being able to fulfill our collective human responsibility” in our troubled world.
