Cynthia Bourgeault will spend the weekend at Glastonbury Abbey working with participants to reflect on the core Benedictine value of stability, the intuition that genuine transformation proceeds more powerfully under the conditions of confinement (voluntary self-limitation) than expansion (keeping one’s options open). The retreat will feature teaching by Cynthia based on a close reading of selected chapters from the Rule of St. Benedict, combined with individual and group meditation, as well as the opportunity to join with the community in the monastic liturgy.
