Location: The Cathedral Church of St. Michael’s & All Angels, 608 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC Canada
Dates: Thursday, April 30 – 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Friday, May 1 – 9:00 am – noon. These two talks will not be the same but the latter will continue from the first.
Event Description:
Drawing from the teachings of St. Julian of Norwich, St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, the Cloud of Unknowing, Thomas Merton, Zen Masters, and related sources, James Finley will provide an in-depth, experiential introduction to the heritage of the Christian tradition (open to all traditions). The emphasis will be on the guidance that the mystics offer us on recognizing that we are being called to more interior, contemplative ways of experiencing God’s presence. We will explore the path, the way of life that the mystics mark out for us as a way that we can come to a profound experience of God, one with us in all things. Suggestions will also be made for simple ways to practice contemplative prayer. In addition, we will learn ways to read the wisdom writings of the mystics in order to take full advantage of the help that they are offering us.
Presented by James Finley, Ph. D. – International Spiritual Teacher/Speaker/Psychologist
