In conjunction with his four-night retreat on beautiful Cowichan Lake, the University of Victoria Multifaith Services, the United Church Campus Ministry, and the Anglican Diocese of BC join The Contemplative Society in welcoming the Rev. Matthew Wright for this special public event that will parse the value our culture puts on the individual above all else. In contrast, learn how the heart sees from the Whole, finding the individual’s place in relation to the Wholeness of things. Together, we’ll ask questions such as, “How do our lives fit within the larger Life to which we belong?” and “How do we live with balance and compassion?” Come and learn from the Christian and Sufi mystical traditions as we explore how to live from the heart, engaging in teaching, chant, and contemplative practice.

New to Matthew?  Rob King, a participant in our last Wisdom School on the Gospel of Thomas, had this to say about him: “If you have not had a chance to experience Matthew’s teaching, you will be in for a real treat…He has a unique ability to take what seems like difficult teachings and make them understandable and alive in a way that leads to personal transformation…[The Gospel of Thomas] became a living epistle!”
