John Main Seminar 2019 near Vancouver, British Columbia, in August.

The 2019 John Main Seminar will be held near Vancouver at Quest University in Squamish (August 8-11) and will be preceded by an optional Silent Retreat (August 5-8) with Fr. Laurence Freeman OSB, Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation. A bus will transport registrants between Vancouver International Airport/ downtown Vancouver (2 stops) and Quest University on August 5 and August 11.

The theme of the Pre-Seminar Silent Retreat is Sources of Wisdom. Through talks and times of silence, Fr. Laurence will reinforce the power of meditation and reflect on the sources of wisdom to be found in Spirit, Failure, Scripture and Silence. Fr. Laurence is a Catholic Benedictine monk of the Monastery of Christ our Saviour, Turvey England, a monastery of the Congregation of Monte Oliveto. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 2012 in recognition of his work for interfaith dialogue and the promotion of world peace.

Rev. Dr. Sarah Bachelard will lead the 2019 John Main Seminar and the theme is A Contemplative Christianity for our Time. She is an internationally respected theologian, retreat leader and Anglican priest. Dr. Bachelard is the founder and leader of Benedictus Contemplative Church in Canberra, Australia and an honorary fellow at the Australian Catholic University. She was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University where she studied theology with Dr. Rowan Williams. She is the author of two books, Experiencing God in a Time of Crisis and Resurrection and Moral Imagination.
